U.S.S. The Sullivans Lists 45 Degrees at Buffalo Naval Park
U.S.S. The Sullivans was partially sinking at Buffalo Naval Park in New York on April 20, 2022. The vessel experienced an electrical power loss on April 13, causing the onboard water discharge pumps to fail. Progressive flooding caused the ship to list 45 degrees to starboard. The Coast Guard used a remotely operated vehicle underwater at the site. The Coast Guard and partner agencies deployed 1,000 feet of containment boom and more than 2,000 feet of absorbent sausage boom to keep oil products from spreading in the Buffalo River. The Coast Guard and partner agencies continued efforts to assess and re-float the ship.
