Mariner Rescued from Sailboat Off Beaufort Inlet
The Coast Guard rescued a mariner on May 15, 2023, from a disabled sailboat reportedly taking on water about 74 miles off Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina. A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew attempted to lower a rescue swimmer and a dewatering pump to the sailboat. Members assigned to Coast Guard Station Fort Macon towed the disabled sailboat off the North Carolina coast.
