Coast Guard Tows Vessel West of Sanibel Island

Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach rescue crews towed a vessel in distress 55 miles west of Sanibel Island on July 9, 2022.

Coast Guard 7th District command center watchstanders received a distress alert from the emergency beacon aboard the pleasure craft and directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew.

The Coast Guard photo caption described the vessel as 33 feet, while the alert description called it a 34-foot pleasure craft.
