Coast Guard Rescues 5 from Catamaran in Ophelia Weather
Coast Guard Station Fort Macon rescued five people Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, from an anchored 38-foot catamaran in Lookout Bight at Cape Lookout, North Carolina. The vessel was beset by weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm Ophelia. A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew also arrived on scene and provided overhead light for the transit back to the station.
