USCGC Thetis sighted migrants aboard a raft in the Atlantic Ocean on Jan. 4, 2021. The Thetis crew, USCGC Emlen Tunnell, USCGC Glen Harris, and a Royal Moroccan Navy vessel assisted in the rescue.

The Glen Harris crew assessed an overloaded raft taking on water, helped rescued migrants transfer from a small boat to the cutter, and brought migrants aboard from the water. On Jan. 5, a Glen Harris corpsman and another crew member treated one rescued migrant for symptoms of hypothermia.

The Glen Harris later transferred rescued migrants to a Royal Moroccan Navy ship. Glen Harris, Emlen Tunnell, and Thetis were on routine patrol in the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of responsibility while the Sentinel-class cutters were transiting from the U.S. to their new homeport of Manama, Bahrain.
