3 Rescued from Sailboat 154 Miles Southeast of Cape Hatteras
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City rescued three mariners from the sailing vessel TIME-AUT on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, 154 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. The boaters initially stated they were not in distress. Early Thursday morning, they requested to abandon the vessel. Coast Guard watchstanders directed the launch of an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, along with the Coast Guard Cutter Richard Snyder crew.
