A Coast Guard Station South Padre Island 33-foot Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement crew interdicted two Mexican lancha crews approximately 20 miles offshore South Padre Island, Texas, on April 9, 2024.

The crew seized 460 pounds of illegally caught red snapper and three sharks found on board the fishing boats.

Coast Guard crews detained nine Mexican men engaged in illegal fishing and transferred them to U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel for further processing. A fisherman was transferred from the Station South Padre Island boat to the Coast Guard Cutter Daniel Tarr, a 154-foot Fast Response Cutter.
