12 Haitians Rescued from Monito Cay Cliffs

The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Tezanos rescued 12 Haitians on Nov. 15, 2022, after they were left abandoned by smugglers on the rocky cliffs of Monito cay, Puerto Rico.

The survivors, seven men and five women, were transferred to Ramey Sector U.S. Border Patrol agents in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

Monito cay is an uninhabited natural reserve in the Mona Passage, just off Mona Island, Puerto Rico.
