Re: Film Reviews.

Rafferty and the gold dust twins. 1975.
5/10
Two girls take a ex marine/driving instructor hostage and end up going to vegas.
Rough and funny road trip film, typical of what a '70s film would look like. Carefree with little plot. Centers on the three main characters, as they bumble across the state. Some laugh out moments with bits of drama in between.

Re: Film Reviews.

The old woman with the knife. 2025. South Korea.
4/10
Old woman assassin.
Typical story of young woman picked up, taken in, trained to be a assassin. There is an 'agency' of them that kill societies 'pests'
Has a John Wick vibe to it, but no real connection. Where it kinda falls apart is the plot and pacing.
There is a standard single parent with a little girl, and he helps the old lady. A younger assassin who want to the top killer, who is watching her and getting involved to a degree. This is all very dragged out. Flashbacks to her youth intercut throughout drag it down more. The action scenes are OK, but not up to previous S.K. action genre.

Murder report. 2025. South Korea.
7/10
A reporter interviews a serial killer.
Crime thriller that is dialogue heavy between the two main characters. Relies on a slowly unfolding plot, with slight flashbacks to illustrate certain events. With no action scenes it does get a little tedious, but lighting, camera movements and details that unfold are all connected very meticulously.

Re: Film Reviews.

Mona lisa. 1986.
8/10
A crim just out of jail takes a driving job for a high class call girl.
Slow burn film that centers on the two main characters. After an uneasy start, they become friends and she convinces him to help her find another young girl. The films dialogue has a natural feel to it, with a simple plot it slowly adds tension, as he re-connects with a gangster and gets used to the seedy underworld that she is in. A just over 90 minute run time, no over the top dramatics, make a for grounded crime drama.
I saw this recently also, really liked it as well, I liked the acting it felt honest. Also the soundtrack is killer, the Genesis/Phil Collins song

Re: Film Reviews.

One of them days. 2025.
8/10
Buddy comedy with two black women.
Centers on two flatmates, one a waitress, the other an artist with a boyfriend who takes their rent money. Follows their travels as they try to raise the cash.
With a very urban black american setting and dialogue, it still managed to be quite funny with slapstick scenes, and slightly over the top characters. Not entirely memorable, but a colourful entertaining 90 minutes.

Re: Film Reviews.

Fackam Hall 2025.
8/10
Comedy that's inspired by Downton Abby, but has a style similar to airplane, the naked gun.
Well written comedy with the main humour being visual gags, word play of the characters. The visual jokes are mostly practical and at times subtle. Has a steady pace so nothing outshines.

Re: Film Reviews.

Mr Klein. 1976. France.
7/10
When a newsletter that is meant for jewish people, with a mailing list that is keep by the police, gets delivered to his apartment. He sets out to try and clear his name. Follows the main character in a some what slow but steady way, as he tries to find the other Mr Klein. A creeping awareness of what will happen to the main character is present throughout, balanced with a confident charm from him. The film has a paranoid drama to it, as the other man is never seen.

Re: Film Reviews.

We shall not be moved. 2024. Mexico.
8/10
Drama about a elderly woman, whose older brother was killed in a revolution in 1968. She still seeks revenge many years later.
Centered around the family in a apartment building, her sister, her son and his wife.
Well written plot, tad slow but with a 100 minute runtime. Perfect example of relationships that sour, anger and a want for revenge and forgiveness.

Re: Film Reviews.

The tough ones. 1976 Italy.
6/10
Fast paced action crime film, sexist as it is violent, cheesy as it is entertaining. Centers on a sandy haired moustache wearing, tough guy cop. He is after a villian who is generic and rules don't seen to apply. Very standard acting, but with some well filmed car chase scenes, no real depth to any characters, just a tad over 90 minute run time.
