Toro Rosso Front Suspension Failure During Practice Lap
Toro Rosso was testing a new material for its suspension uprights when a manufacturing flaw in the metal caused the front-right upright to fail under braking. The load transferred to the front-left upright, which failed almost simultaneously. Both front wheel assemblies broke free. Wheel tethers were fitted, but they were attached to the uprights and could not retain the wheels after the failures.
