A Ton of Chocolate Set Solid Across a German Street
About a ton of liquid chocolate escaped a storage tank at the DreiMeister factory in Westonnen, part of Werl in western Germany, on Monday, December 10, 2018, and ran out through the gates into the road. The chocolate cooled fast in the December air and set into a slab roughly 33 square feet across. Around 25 firefighters worked it loose with shovels, and heat was used to soften the layer bonded to the surface. The factory said it was running again two days later and expected to absorb the loss.
