Plane Crashes on Highway 124 in Winnie, Texas
On October 2, 2021, a small single-engine plane crashed on Highway 124 at the Rice Festival Parade site in Winnie, Texas. The aircraft had been towed to the parade, and the pilot was returning to the airport when it went down shortly before noon. The plane's left wingtip struck a street lamp, twisting the pole and knocking the lamp off before the crash. The pilot was not seriously hurt, and no one on the ground was injured.
