Train Hits Stalled Semi-trailer at Indianapolis Crossing, 2021
A train hit a semi-trailer stuck on the tracks at Massachusetts Avenue and North Olney Street in Indianapolis at about 8:15 a.m. on September 30, 2021. The truck had become stuck on the crossing as it travelled along Massachusetts Avenue, and the train could not stop in time. Drums of cornstarch in the trailer ignited on impact and produced a large fireball. Nobody was injured. Firefighters put the fire out quickly. CSX was reported to be investigating.
