Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Heavy Water Tank Mishap

Was the crane too short or weak to complete the lift? Once the crane started revving its engine and the tank quit elevating, I wondered if the crane just wasn't enough tool for the job.

Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Heavy Water Tank Mishap

The load may have just been to heavy it fell once it started to rotate shifting the weight and the crane base was positioned wrong. Just a guess

Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Heavy Water Tank Mishap

Was like..oh, it isn't gonna nest right on there, it broke or something..at least they didn't drop the water container... Then..
Well.. Shit..

Side note, wonder if they were trying to put it up there while filled with water?

Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Heavy Water Tank Mishap

wayyyy to tight in on the crane. The crane was under height, under capacity and i hope whoever signed this crane contract and operated it is in jail. At any jobsite in this country (USA) the crane operator has the ultimate final say if a lift will happen of not. Thats why crane operators get the big money, they have the responsibility

That my friend is a combination of a few things. But gravity and swaying back and forth of the water tower was no match for that crane. Once it got enough momentum it would have took a crane twice that size down. The water itself is dangerous inside.
