this was a cascade of events, but my guess is that excess speed was the initial error, before the power out. also the sharp (z-)turn is likely done by using the bow props, which hints that they were aware of danger (danger of hitting the road of the Key bridge) . navigation cards & pc should/must be powered by standalone power. |

fact: 8.5 slowing to 7.8 knots on impact ship +load weight near 100000 tons if you don't believe me: check marinetraffic.com allowed speed limits do not equal a sensible speed for a certain situation I have made once a video from AIS log files where 1 ship had 3 collisions in less than a day. The funny thing is that the skipper only talked about the 1st minor collision, but the logs revealed the 2 major collisions later on. |
