Fire broke out at the George Town landfill on Grand Cayman, the dump locals call Mount Trashmore, on March 8, 2020. Smoke drifted across the surrounding districts and residents downwind were told to keep their windows shut.

The fire was deep-seated in the waste pile and crews were still working it on the second and third days. The site catches fire regularly; it had already burned once that year, in January.
