Boeing 787 Crashes After Takeoff Near Ahmedabad, Killing at Least 290
On June 12, 2025, a Boeing 787 bound for the UK crashed near Ahmedabad Airport shortly after takeoff. The crew sent a Mayday call before the aircraft went down in Meghani Nagar, a populated residential area. There were 242 people aboard, including 12 crew members. All but one survived passenger were killed. The passengers included at least 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. The aircraft struck a doctor's hostel with more than 200 people inside. At least five medical students were killed and many others were injured. Including people on the ground, the death toll was reported at at least 290.
