BLS Cargo Train Hits Bridge at Auggen, Germany
On April 2, 2020, a BLS Cargo freight train struck a bridge at Auggen in Baden-Wurttemberg, near the Swiss border. The cause had not been established. The train was a RAlpin "Rollende Autobahn" piggyback service, hauled by a Traxx Re 485 locomotive. The bridge was being replaced at the time. No fatalities had been reported, but several people were injured. Truck drivers were aboard the lead carriage during the journey.
