19 Buildings Demolished at Once
A total of 19 buildings in Wuhan's downtown area were demolished by five tons of explosives at one-time in only 10 seconds from 11:50 pm Saturday in central China's Hubei Province. The blast area is located in the city's downtown area which is next to a light rail viaduct, residential communities, shopping mall, transformer substation and some other infrastructure facilities. "For this kind of large-scale blasting demolition conducted in the downtown area, we not only need to guarantee the demolition result, but also strictly control the adverse effects of blasting," said Jia Yongsheng, general director of the blasting. Jia said they set more than 120,000 muzzles and prepared five tons of explosives. In order to guarantee safety, they set the collapse time by the millisecond. "The demolition effect was quite ideal. The explosion didn’t affect the light rail and public facilities around the blasted buildings. There was no damage and adverse effects of blasting," said Jia. |

That's some damn-good shootin' there, pardner!  At first I thought the building in the middle of several was a fail. But then you look at other buildings nearby that were left intact... and then realize how well that controlled demolition went. |

Would have been great if they had included it in a "Griswold's Chinese Vacation" movie. Could have had Clark running the remote in a hotel room, or better yet, Cousin Eddie.........
