Re: Brittanee Drexel

The Feds know exactly what happened and they are hoping someone who was at Taylor's trap house come forward. Not likely....
We know she was held against her will for several days, gangraped and I hope she did try to escape. She tried, but got pistol whipped, shot, and fed to the gators. Those bastard committed the perfect murder..
Yeah. Not quite. We was all wrong.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV/WPDE) — Authorities have made an arrest after locating the remains of 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel, who went missing from Myrtle Beach in 2009.

Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver confirmed the discovery during a press conference on Monday afternoon from the Georgetown County Judicial Center, during which he announced the arrest.

GCSO: Remains of Brittanee Drexel found, Raymond Moody charged with murder

Authorities accused Raymond Moody Monday of burying a deceased Drexel. His charges include rape, murder and kidnapping, and he is in custody, according to officials.

According to arrest warrants, Drexel's cause of death was manual strangulation by Moody on or around the night of April 25, 2009, while in the limits of Georgetown County.

But the Georgetown County Coroner's Office says that it could take weeks for a clearer cause of death to be released. As of Monday, the office said an official cause of death is still pending.

The warrants added that Moody took "overt actions to conceal and/or dispose of evidence of a crime" also within the Georgetown County limits.

Moody reportedly did unlawfully "seize, confine, or inveigle" Drexel without the authority of the law.

He also committed non-consensual sexual battery against Drexel during the commission of a kidnapping and was done by "utilizing aggravating force," the arrest warrants detailed.

According to 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson, Drexel was raped and murdered at the Santee River and then her body was moved to Old Town Avenue.

This previous week, human remains were found during a search effort in a wooded area on Old Town Avenue, close to the Harmony Township subdivision. Officials said dental records confirmed the remains belonged to Drexel.

Sheriff Weaver discusses law enforcement recovering Drexel's remains (WCIV)

Days earlier, Moody had been jailed on an obstruction of justice charge. Moody was previously identified as a person of interest in Drexel's disappearance, though law enforcement had said in the past that there was not enough evidence to name him as a suspect.

The search, which resulted in the discovery of the remains, happened approximately 2.5 miles from a motel where Moody had been living when Drexel went missing.

The teen, a Rochester, New York native, had traveled to South Carolina over spring break when she disappeared.

Several law enforcement agencies were represented at the press conference. Speakers included Sheriff Weaver, Myrtle Beach Police Chief Amy Prock, FBI special agent in charge Susan Ferensic, 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson

“We mourn with you and pray with you as you cope with the tragedies of 13 years ago. No one deserves to go through this, and our heart goes out to you,” Sheriff Weaver said.

Chief Prock called the day bittersweet as authorities were able to bring some sense of closure to Drexel's loved ones.

Richardson confirmed that Moody does not currently have a bond for the new charges.

Drexel's parents, Chad Drexel and Dawn Pleckan, also spoke from the podium, asking for privacy at this time. They did note that there would be celebrations of life in both Rochester and Myrtle Beach in the future.

UPDATE: Officials speak on recent developments to Drexel case

The two concluded by thanking law enforcement for their work on the case, adding that they were ready to bring Drexel home.

WPDE coverage - Drexel died by manual strangulation, man charged with murder after remains found: Warrants

We reached out on Monday to the attorney for Timothy Taylor, a long-time person of interest in the Drexel case. Taylor's attorney issued the following statement:

"Thus far the FBI has not extended us the courtesy of providing an update. Hopefully the FBI will have the decency to issue a statement clearing Mr. Taylor with the same fanfare as when he was falsely accused."
We also reached out to the FBI regarding its investigation into Taylor as a suspect. Roughly an hour-and-a-half after hearing from Taylor's attorney, the FBI said Taylor was no longer considered a suspect:

"Throughout the investigation we followed multiple leads to wherever they led us and until the conclusion of those leads. That portion of the investigation was concluded, and we are confident that with Moody's arrest we have the man responsible for Brittanee's murder."
