9 Year Old Girl Cédrika Provencher, Missing Since 2007, Found Dead
Canada, The body of Cédrika Provencher, who has been missing since 2007, has been found in Saint-Maurice, near Trois-Rivières, Que.

The Sûreté du Québec, the provincial police force, announced late Saturday that they had recovered human bones and identified them as the remains of Cédrika.

The girl was last seen on July 31, 2007, near her home in Trois-Rivières. She was reportedly approached by an adult who asked for help to find a missing dog. She was never seen again.

She was nine years old at the time.

On Friday afternoon, human remains were found by passersby in a forest on the edge of Hwy. 40 East in Saint-Maurice, the SQ said.

A SQ command post was dispatched to the site, near a service road.

Cédrika's family was informed on Saturday.

For now, there are no arrests but the investigation is continuing, police said.

Cédrika's disappearance caused a shockwave that went beyond the borders of Quebec.

Last June, the production of an investigative documentary on Cédrika's story was announced. Director Stéphan Parent said he wanted to reopen the investigation into her disappearance.

The release of the film is scheduled for the end of 2016.

that's the oldest trick in the book. It was pounded into our heads as 4 year olds, to never believe anyone trying to get close to you, unless they knew a special code word.

Pauvre petite...

I remember when this happened. I'm originally from the province next to Québec, and everybody was looking for her. Helicopters were flying above our houses, for there were rumours that she had been taken to New Brunswick...

Very sad. So many missing children....I couldn't imagine what the parents go thru. I'm glad they found this child for the parents sake. Imagine never knowing....
