Typhoon Nika Hits Isabela with Destructive Winds
Typhoon Nika, international name Toraji, has destroyed houses and uprooted trees in Isabela, Philippines, with destructive winds. It was initially classified as a Severe Tropical Storm, then rapidly strengthened over open waters east of Aurora into a typhoon. As of Monday, November 11, a local agency reported Nika was advancing toward Luzon with sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts up to 150 kilometers per hour.
