Tornado Derails Freight Train Near Lawrence, Illinois
On January 7, 2008, a tornado struck a Wisconsin Central freight train near Lawrence, Illinois, derailing multiple cars. The tornado was rated EF2 at the derailment site, with estimated winds of up to 110 mph. The remaining train cars then crashed into the derailed cars.
