My uncle was standing for a photo in Hawaii on a sort of land bridge with the ocean behind him and a lagoon in front of him. A massive wave came up over the wall and knocked him into the lagoon. He was badly injured and cut up by the rocks, but if he’d gone into the ocean, he may had disappeared like this guy.

My uncle used to tell me the two deadliest things in the world are tidal waves and the mob, but he would take his chances with a tidal wave first. My dad, meanwhile, was proud of his mob acquaintances.  |
