Don't be melodramatic, they're part of a backcountry group. Usually you want at least 3 people, no less than 2. Everyone wears an avy beacon, has shovel and probe (basically a tent pole). One person skis at a time while the rest watch. If one gets caught, again one person skis first to where the victim is at. The idea is not to get the whole group caught. It really wasn't a full fledged avalanche rather than a large slide triggered by a cornice of fresh snow. Normal people would not be this calm and collected about it. The people in the video did it perfectly. |
