Flash Flooding ravaged parts of Johnson County on Monday Night. Two to three inches of rain fell in the course of a few hours and led to flash flooding.
The worst of the flooding happened in the Flat Gap community along Ramey Branch. Highways 172 and 201 were both closed due to the flood waters. Johnson County Emergency Management officials tell us that 40-50 homes we're damaged or destroyed by flooding. A shelter has been opened for those affected by the flooding.

Johnson County has received excessive rainfall resulting in flash flooding and the loss of homes.
The Red Cross has opened a shelter at the Paintsville Recreation Center located at 232 Preston Street, Paintsville, KY 41240.
