Hurricane Milton Brushes Yucatan, Heads Toward Florida
Early Tuesday morning, October 8, Hurricane Milton was brushing the northern Yucatan Peninsula, bringing powerful winds and heavy rain while moving on a path toward Florida. Storm surge and heavy rain flooded parts of Yucatan. The storm's proximity put Merida, a colonial-era city of about 1.2 million people, under a heightened state of alert.
