Typhoon Krathon made landfall on Thursday, October 3, in Kaohsiung, a major port city in southern Taiwan with a dense population. The storm brought maximum sustained winds of 126 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 162 kilometers per hour. Before landfall, Krathon had brought rain to eastern and southern Taiwan over the past five days.
