Re: Gatinburg on Fire - Escape
Thank you. Yes fully insured. We came out lucky as this was only like a weekend getaway type of thing for us, and we weren't there at the time. Some people lived in the cabins and homes around us full time and lost everything. Thankfully the only thing of sentimental value i lost was a few pictures in frames, and My grandfathers 270 deer rifle. Its so crazy the fire burned every thing on the ground and 20 feet up the trees, but the leaves in the tops are still there. |

Re: Gatinburg on Fire - Escape
Sorry about your cabin. We had a family friend there with his grown kids for thanksgiving. His cabin was at cobbly knob as well. He was only one left, his kids left day before. He almost did not make it out. He said he grabbed Phoebe (his cat) and hauled ass. The cabin is gone.

Re: Gatinburg on Fire - Escape
There are two places everyone in the southeast makes a yearly homage to: Gatlingburg, TN and Destin, FL. We got to G'burg once each in the fall and winter and Destin once during the summer. Both absolutely gorgeous destinations with tons of family activities and scenery. It was terrible watching it burn, felt so personal for many of us who grew up making some of our happiest memories in that place. Was just there a few weeks ago, I'm so glad to see recovery is coming along swiftly. Almost can't tell anything even happened.
