Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are the entertainment capital of the South. Dollywood is just one of the many amusement and performance centers. There are some poor people who serve the very rich tourists. My family have spent hundreds of thousand s of dollars over my life. I have seen every big time country performers playing in the small music halls. The Great Smokey Mountains are so beautiful and this is a tragedy.

Oh I know all that, I've been to the Smokies and been through Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, I just didn't understand what context he was using the phrase in.

43 mins from my front porch. Unfortunately we lost our cabin in cobbly knob. Yep The name of the place was cobbly knob. About 8 minutes from downtown gatlinburg. Was there 2 days before this happened. They arrested 2 juveniles for starting the fire at a trail head. With 14 deaths as a result, you should know what punishment i think is fitting...  |

I was thinking the rich folk that live there in the scenic areas, their homes, the entertainment, etc. The Smokies are poor, no doubt, but Gatlinburg is a big exception. I really like that area off-season. |
