Vintage Nazi Plane Crashes, Burst Into Flames on 101 Freeway
In a remarkable turn of events, a small vintage plane crash-landed on the lanes of the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills on Tuesday, erupting into flames. Astonishingly, the pilot emerged from the ordeal unscathed. The incident involved a North American SNJ-5 aircraft with the pilot as the sole occupant. It occurred near the center lanes of the northbound 101 Freeway, close to Liberty Canyon Road, at approximately 1:15 p.m., as reported by the LA County Fire Department. Despite the plane's wing still being ablaze, it draped over the center divider while emergency crews diligently worked to douse the flames. Commuters on the highway were astounded and captured video footage of the dramatic scene. The rear section of the aircraft appeared to be missing as the fire continued to rage across the lanes. The plane had taken off from Van Nuys Airport, a confirmation received from a spokesperson. As a result of the incident, all lanes on the freeway were closed for an undetermined duration. Traffic on the northbound side experienced extensive backups as crews labored to clear the wreckage. This vintage aircraft, adorned with German markings on its wings, is typically seen in parades and belongs to the Condor Squadron club, according to Van Nuys Airport. The club, established by WWII pilots in 1965, operates as a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of aviation history. Both the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have initiated investigations into the crash. |
