Two Planes in Romania Crash During Training for Aviation Show
In Romania, a tragic incident occurred at an airfield when two planes collided during a stunt, resulting in the death of one pilot. The collision caused the aircraft to become entangled mid-flight, subsequently entering a spiral motion before crashing to the ground. The pilots were reportedly training for an aviation rally that was later canceled. The deceased pilot has been identified as 60-year-old Cornel Marinescu, known as "Q," an experienced aerobatics pilot who was once part of the Hawks of Romania flying squad. His 53-year-old counterpart sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the precise circumstances that led to the synchronized planes colliding at the Frătăuţi airfield. |

It looks to me the top plane pilot went down when he should gone up and then tried to roll. I bet it was the older more experienced pilot who did that. Many times there overconfident and screw up.

Re: Two Planes in Romania Crash During Training for Aviation Show
After looking at the video a few more times the older pilot was in the lower plane and the idiot who survived was the younger pilot on top. So I was wrong to assume the older more experienced pilot was the one on top who screwed up.

Re: Two Planes in Romania Crash During Training for Aviation Show
"Investigators are looking into the case to determine what exactly led to the two planes colliding." How about a loss of roll control, (concentration) in the inverted aircraft. And maybe getting too close, causing airflow disruption. |
