Re: Two Firefighters Dead After Firetruck Collides With a Jet in Peru
The plane was clearly felony-speeding. Truck evidently had the right-of-way—it being an emergency vehicle. You're supposed to pull your plane over to the right, people, when you see an emergency vehicle—what's the matter with you? These damn plane drivers, they never learn! Now they probably got the truck pilot killed! |

Re: Two Firefighters Dead After Firetruck Collides With a Jet in Peru
The saddest part of this video is the last 10 seconds, with tone alarm on the air mask going off. For Chicago firemen like me it means "man down." I've never been so disgusted watching a video of gore and then getting hit with that sound, with no one to help them. Sickens me. |

Re: Two Firefighters Dead After Firetruck Collides With a Jet in Peru
I understand this hits close to home for you but it also hits close to home for me as a commercial pilot. Those guys killed themselves and are lucky they didn't kill hundreds of other people. You never ever cross a runway without looking both ways to make sure it's clear even if you've been given clearance to cross, which they weren't. It's like running a red light without checking for oncoming traffic even if you are code 3, lights and sirens. it's stupid and it risks everyone else's life for nothing. They weren't even responding to a real emergency it was a response time drill. Seems like they need to go back to training about how to operate on an airport environment. The pilots on that plane were actually jailed for 2 days because it's Peru and that's just what they do. Two innocent pilots spent two nights in jail because those firefighters couldn't be bothered to follow basic safety practices. |
