In a tragic incident, a Canadair fire brigade aircraft crashed in Linguaglossa, located in the province of Catania, resulting in the deaths of the two pilots onboard. The aircraft, identified as Canadair 28, was engaged in a firefighting mission on Mount Calcinera when it met with the accident.

According to initial reports from the General Command of the Fire Brigade, the aircraft crashed due to an impact with the mountain ridge, followed by an explosion upon hitting the ground. The firefighters of Linguaglossa, including a team of Speleo alpino fluviale (Saf) experts and an AW 139 ‘Drago 146’ helicopter, were deployed to the crash site.

Air-attack is some of the hardest flying on the world.
From the second video it looks like he overshot his target and then overbanked in the turn to correct.

That sucks. I love those planes, we usually have two parked in my town and ready to go anywhere in North America. Always amazing to see them operate when there’s a fire nearby.

Supposed to put out fires not start them.

Crazy approach, it didn't look windy? Lined up before dropping in might have helped.
