Two Deads After Two Acrobatic Planes Collide in Middair
A tragic mid-air collision occurred involving two aerobatic stunt planes, resulting in the untimely demise of both pilots. The harrowing incident unfolded in the vicinity of the Leumnitz airfield in Gera, Germany, shortly after 6 pm on a Saturday evening. The pilots, identified as D. G., aged 72, and M. S., aged 42, tragically lost their lives in the crash. Dramatic footage captured the two aircraft flying in parallel formation before an intricate maneuver went awry, leading to their collision and subsequent entanglement. The planes descended rapidly, engulfed in flames, with thick black smoke billowing from the crash site. Promptly responding to the emergency, first responders and authorities cordoned off the area. Looks like as they were stalling out they both were blown to the same side and locked into each other. Must be like flipping a coin and it lands on its edge.

It looked to me like they planned that mirrored inverted stall at the tail end of the inverted loop, and one plane intended to do a barrel roll and end up in the same inverted stall, and shifted over to the opposite side of the partner plane. It would have been an awesome trick if they pulled it off, but the barrel roll did not cooperate.
