Transportes Aereos Flight Rejected Takeoff, Plane Goes Off the Runway
A freight aircraft belonging to Alada Empresa De Transportes Aereos, an Angolan airline headquartered in Luanda, encountered a high-speed rejected takeoff incident at Cabinda Airport in Angola. The aircraft, an Ilyushin IL-18D with registration D2-FFR, was conducting a cargo flight on behalf of DHL when the incident occurred. The aircraft's takeoff was abruptly aborted due to burst tires, causing it to overrun the runway and come to a stop in soft ground. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. Alada Empresa de Transportes Aereos operates a fleet comprising three AN-32 and three IL-18 aircraft, primarily involved in cargo transportation services. |

From what I've been able to gather from one of my aviation sites, it was due to burst tyre/s. Maybe it was the camera or angle but the craft sure looked a bit sluggish IMO. I'd also be interested to know their V1 calcs.  |

That could have caused some serious issues, they were lucky to get it stopped in time.

I can't see that amount of people hanging by the side of the runway in places like Sydney or New York. Only in Angola!   |
