Su-34 Fighter-bomber Crashes into a Residential Building in Yeysk

Found some dashcam video related to this.

Quote:
A Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber crashed into a residential building in Yeysk on the evening of October 17, 2022. The incident occurred shortly after the aircraft, assigned for a training flight, took off from a nearby military base and suffered an engine malfunction. This failure led to a large fireball, a consequence of the substantial amount of fuel on board at the time of takeoff. The resulting impact and explosion inflicted severe damage on the apartment building, causing the collapse of upper levels and a fire that spread across 17 apartments on five different floors.

Relating to this disaster, 14 individuals, including three children, were fatally injured. Notably, three of the victims perished in an effort to escape the inferno by jumping from the upper floors of the building. Alongside these fatalities, 19 people were hospitalized due to injuries sustained. The two pilots operating the Su-34 managed to eject safely prior to the crash. Subsequent rescue operations facilitated the evacuation of 68 residents from the building, inclusive of those injured. Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations later confirmed that 10 bodies were recovered during the rescue efforts, bringing the total death toll to 13, including the three children.

Re: Su-34 Fighter-bomber Crashes into a Residential Building in Yeysk

The Russian defence ministry has suggested that a malfunction in one of the engines was the most likely cause.

Hopefully because it had a UKR missile warhead stuffed up its ass.

Wow. It disappeared into that building just like those planes on 9/11. I think about the person in this building who looked up and saw that plane flying right at them. It instantly goes from break-time to Judgment Day.

Re: Su-34 Fighter-bomber Crashes into a Residential Building in Yeysk

At least 14 people have died after a Russian SU-34 fighter jet crashed into a residential building in the western city of Yeysk during a training flight Monday, according to Russian officials and state media.

The incident was due to one of the engines catching fire, reported state-run news agency RIA Novosti, which cited Russia’s Defense Ministry.

“According to the report of the ejected pilots, the cause of the plane crash was the ignition of one of the engines during take-off. At the site of the crash of the Su-34 in the courtyard of one of the residential quarters, the plane’s fuel ignited,” the ministry said in a statement to RIA.

The conditions of the ejected pilots are not clear.

Fourteen bodies, including those of three children, were removed from the debris as of Tuesday, according to Russian officials. Earlier state media reports said at least 25 people were injured.

“The tragedy claimed the lives of 14 people. I offer my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims,” the governor of the Krasnodar Krai region, Veniamin Kondratiev, said in a statement on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.

Yeysk is a port town on the shore of the Sea of Azov and is separated from occupied Russian territory in southern Ukraine by a narrow stretch of the sea.

Images and videos of the crash’s aftermath showed smoke billowing and fire blazing in the residential area. A building, believed to house hundreds of people, was later engulfed in flames, say officials.

Russian President Vladimir Putin told authorities to provide all necessary assistance to the victims of the crash, the Kremlin said in a statement, adding that Putin has received reports from the ministers and the head of the region on the situation.
