Stunt Plane Pilot Escapes Death when Wing Breaks Off During Aerobatics Performance
A remarkable tale of survival unfolded at the El Trebol aviation club in Santa Fe, Argentina, as pilot Dino Moline narrowly escaped disaster during a heart-stopping plane crash while performing aerobatics. He attributed the wing detachment to what he believed was metal fatigue and recalled the moment he saw the wing pass by him. Moline acted swiftly upon hearing instructions from fellow pilot Cesar Faristocco over the radio, deploying the parachute system that saved his life. While the pilot did sustain a minor burn on his foot, he expressed immense relief at having survived the catastrophic event. Moline's recount of the incident emphasized the urgency of deploying the parachute as he witnessed flames inside the plane. Rans Aircraft, the manufacturer of the plane involved in the incident, is known for its use in airshows and boasts safety features, including ballistic parachutes, designed to protect both the pilot and the aircraft in unforeseen circumstances. These aircraft models are manufactured in the United States, cost approximately $60,000, and have an unloaded weight of 230 kilograms. |
