Strategic Tu-95 Bomber Skids Off Runway and Explodes
A Russian Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bomber experienced a catastrophic accident during a routine training flight on June 8, 2015. According to official reports, the aircraft skidded off the runway during acceleration, leading to a tragic sequence of events. One of the bomber's engines exploded, causing the aircraft to spin around 180 degrees while engulfed in flames. Tragically, the incident resulted in significant casualties. One of the co-pilots died instantly in the accident. The commander of the crew sustained severe injuries, with 75% burns to his body, ultimately succumbing to these injuries two months after the incident. The Tupolev Tu-95, a key component of Russia's strategic long-range bomber fleet, has been in service since the 1950s. This incident highlights the potential risks associated with operating older military aircraft. The Tu-95, known for its distinctive propeller-driven design and long-range capabilities, has been a symbol of Russia's aerial might for decades. |

Re: Strategic Tu-95 Bomber Skids Off Runway and Explodes
The Tu-95 bomber has been in service since 1956 and hopelessly obsolete, yet Russia is trying to extend this flying junk pile to 2040.

Re: Strategic Tu-95 Bomber Skids Off Runway and Explodes
The U.S. is using b-52 bombers that have been around for just as long. ( I think) All bombers have to be upgraded for them to be in service for so long. These planes can be equipped with cruise missiles that can travel over a thousand miles away. Keep in mind the f-16 has been around since the 1970's. And is still considered a good jet. Do you think there have been no upgrades? |

Faster than Missiles: Russia Developing Space Age Fighter Jet © Sputnik/ Evgeny Biyatov RUSSIA 17:31 24.01.2016(updated 17:39 24.01.2016) Get short URL 12138471004 MiG-41. Re: Strategic Tu-95 Bomber Skids Off Runway and Explodes
Understood, but at least the Buff is a jet, not a turbo prop..and given the usual shitty maintenance that Russia does on their military equipment, I'd suggest their crews have a greater chance of dying due to mechanical failure than anything else.

Typical Russian arms propaganda...hell, it took 'em 40 years just to come up with a new tank and it's already obsolete. |

Re: Strategic Tu-95 Bomber Skids Off Runway and Explodes
Countries from all over the world eagerly line up to buy Russian fighter jets, tanks and missiles. There are video documentaries also of U.S. airman who have actually visited Russian airbases and have praised Russian jets. You really think the su 30, su 34, su35, the legendary mig 29, the mig 35, and the Pak t50 fifth generation fighter jets are just Russian propaganda garbage? |
