Snowbird Pilot Captain Kevin Domon-Grenier Ejects at Airshow

A pilot with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds experienced a close call during the Atlanta Air Show on Sunday, safely ejecting from his aircraft before it crashed. Captain Kevin Domon-Grenier, a member of the elite Canadian aerial demonstration team, was forced to make the emergency exit from his CT-114 Tutor jet prior to his scheduled performance.

The Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds, via a tweet, confirmed the incident, stating that Domon-Grenier landed safely and that there were no injuries reported on the ground. The team emphasized that the aircraft crashed in an unpopulated area, mitigating the risk to bystanders.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration reported that the crash occurred around 1:30 PM EDT in a pasture near Brooks, Georgia. While the cause of the incident remains under investigation, the Snowbirds' tweet cautioned against speculation, noting that it was too early to determine the factors leading to the ejection and crash.

The Snowbirds, officially known as 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, are a Canadian icon, known for their precision flying and aerial acrobatics. They perform at air shows across North America, demonstrating the skill and professionalism of the Canadian Forces. The squadron operates the CT-114 Tutor, a jet used for training Canadian Forces pilots from 1961 until 2000.

A tweet from The Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds said Capt. Kevin Domon-Grenier was “forced to eject” from the aircraft before the performance.
Before the performance?? Well that's a damn good autopilot but a damn crappy autopilot!!
