A Saudi Arabian Airlines Airbus A330 jet was forced into an emergency landing in Jeddah, resulting in injuries to 53 individuals, as confirmed by aviation officials.

The aircraft, operated by Saudia, was en route from the holy city of Medina to Dhaka with 151 passengers on board when it encountered a hydraulic system malfunction. This malfunction compelled the flight to divert to Jeddah late on Monday, as reported by the kingdom's Aviation Investigation Bureau.

Disturbing footage posted online depicted the aircraft leaving a fiery trail along the runway as it skidded on its nose before coming to an abrupt stop. Passengers were evacuated using emergency slides, with 52 of them sustaining minor injuries during the process. Tragically, one female passenger suffered a fracture during the evacuation and was promptly provided with medical treatment.

The Aviation Investigation Bureau (AIB) initiated an investigation into the accident, aiming to determine the root causes and contributing factors.

Prior to the emergency landing, the aircraft had circled over Jeddah for several hours, struggling with landing gear issues that prevented it from lowering properly. The challenging circumstances ultimately forced the captain to execute the emergency landing, a decision taken in the interest of passenger safety.
