Sabena B-707 Nose Gear Collapse and Fire While Landing in Tenerife
On February 15, 1978, a Sabena Boeing 707 operated by Sobelair as a tourism charter flight experienced a serious accident during its landing at Tenerife North Airport in Spain. The aircraft, registered OO-SJE, was on a flight from Brussels Airport, Belgium, to Tenerife when it encountered problems during the landing process. As the Boeing 707 was attempting to land at the Spanish airport, the aircraft bounced on the runway, causing its nose gear to collapse. Shortly after this impact, a fire broke out and completely destroyed the aircraft. Remarkably, despite the severity of the accident, none of the 189 passengers and the 9 crew members aboard were injured. |
