Reporter Richard Wyatt Hit in the Head By A Low Flying Plane
In a peculiar and somewhat humorous incident dating back to the 1970s, local television news reporter Richard Wyatt found himself at the center of an unusual news story during preparations for the Weston-super-Mare airshow. Part of the airshow's lineup included a "flour bombing" exhibition, featuring a Piper Cub aircraft dropping bags of flour onto a target on the airfield. In a twist of events, it was decided that Wyatt would serve as the live target for this segment, making for a unique and engaging news report. However, the stunt didn't go as planned. During the filming, the Piper Cub, while performing its flour-dropping maneuver, accidentally struck Wyatt on the head. The impact, captured on video, led to Wyatt being rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, the injuries he sustained were not life-threatening. The Piper Cub itself landed safely following the incident, with only a minor dent on its wing tip from the contact with Wyatt's head. Remarkably, displaying resilience and dedication to his profession, Wyatt was back on the job within a month, undoubtedly with an extraordinary story to share. |
