In a tragic incident, a small private aircraft crashed into an unoccupied two-story office building in a Milan suburb, leading to the death of all eight individuals aboard, including a child. The plane, carrying six passengers and two crew members, was en route from Milan's Linate Airport to Olbia, Sardinia, when the accident occurred. Firefighters were promptly at the scene, battling the blaze engulfing the partially renovated building.

Among the victims was 68-year-old Dan Petrescu, a Romanian real estate tycoon and the plane's owner, often referred to as “The Shadow Billionaire” in Romania due to his discreet lifestyle. Despite his estimated net worth ranging between one and three billion euros, Petrescu was known for his unassuming demeanor, often seen driving a modest car and wearing simple clothes, a stark contrast to his considerable wealth.

Petrescu, who had moved his residence to Monaco, made his fortune primarily in real estate, with interests in Unicredit Tiriac Bank and the Rocar holding, along with owning hypermarkets and shopping centers in Romania. He was also involved in the sports world, having purchased the plane in 2015 with Vova Cohn, a former shareholder of the football club Dinamo Bucharest. Unlike his business partner, former Romanian tennis player Ion Tiriac, Petrescu preferred to keep a low profile, avoiding public displays of his wealth.

The crash also claimed the lives of Petrescu's son, his wife, and another family - Filippo Nascimbene, 33, from Pavia, his wife, their young son, and Nascimbene’s mother-in-law, all of whom held French nationality. They were traveling to a family event at Petrescu’s expansive villa in Sardinia, where his 98-year-old mother was awaiting their arrival.
