On June 26, 2026, Dongshi Shuangyue General Aviation B-12PP aircraft, Captain Liu Junhua (member) conducting a solo flight in the local airspace, took off from Shifosi Airport at 17:30, and at 17:40 prepared to return for landing. While joining the westbound route for Runway 18, the aircraft did not join the approach and departure normally, deviated from the local airspace and continued flying on a constant heading of 270 degrees. The local ADS-B monitoring detected the aircraft near the East Fifth Ring Road, with no subsequent signal. Follow-up attempts to contact approach control and the air force were unable to reach the aircraft.

Zero major domestic chinese newspapers reported on the crash of the aircraft into the China Zun building and media outlets like CCTV, whose headquarters sit directly across the street from the crash site, published no reports or mentions of the event.

Videos and eyewitness photographs uploaded to popular chinese platforms like WeChat, Douyin and Xiaohongshu were systematically wiped out within hours of the incident.

The only official domestic acknowledgment came in the form of a brief, vague notice posted on WeChat by the Chaoyang District local government.

The statement confirmed that a small plane crashed on Friday evening, killing the pilot and injuring 13 people, but it omitted the name of the building and the model of the aircraft.
