Piper PA-32 Crashed in Buncombe County, North Carolina

On December 28, 2019, a small plane crash occurred near the WNC Ag Center in Buncombe County, shortly after taking off from the Asheville Regional Airport. The aircraft involved was a Piper PA-32, which experienced difficulties during its departure from Runway 17 at the airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the crash took place approximately one-quarter mile east of the airport. At the time of the accident, five individuals were on board the aircraft. Fortunately, despite the severity of the crash, no major injuries were reported among the passengers.

The incident prompted a significant response from multiple emergency crews at the scene near the WNC Ag Center. The specifics of the crash circumstances, including the cause of the incident and the extent of the damage to the aircraft, were not immediately clear.

The Piper PA-32 is a small, single-engine aircraft known for its reliability and is commonly used for private and business flights. The Asheville Regional Airport, located near the crash site, is a key transportation hub in Western North Carolina, servicing numerous flights daily.
