Piper PA-31P Crashes After Left Engine Failure in Laredo

On March 8, 2018, a Piper PA-31P departed Laredo International Airport when its left engine failed. The pilot radioed the tower, reported the failure, and was cleared to return.

The aircraft crashed before reaching the airport. The NTSB found that the pilot did not follow the manufacturer's recommended procedure following the engine failure, resulting in a loss of control.
