Pilot Killed in Crash at Beach Before Frecce Tricolori Airshow
In a tragic incident preceding a local airshow on the beaches of Tortoreto along Italy's Adriatic coast, a collision between two planes resulted in the loss of one pilot's life. The crash occurred on a sunny day, while families had gathered for a day of leisure at the beach. The incident unfolded just before the scheduled Frecce Tricolori airshow when two members of the QBR amateur sports team, known as "Goodfellas," were performing aerial maneuvers in their respective two-seater propeller planes. Regrettably, the airshow, originally set for Sunday, had to be canceled due to the accident. Local authorities have identified the deceased pilot as 47-year-old Marco Ricci from Sienna. Tragically, he was found lifeless beneath the fuselage of his aircraft, approximately 2 kilometers offshore, as reported by the Teramo Fire Department. Divers were deployed to recover his body, initially using an air balloon to raise the plane to the surface before bringing the light aircraft ashore. The other pilot involved in the incident, Luigi Wilmo Franceschetti, aged 43, managed to execute an emergency landing on the beach and survived the collision with only minor injuries. Subsequently, he was hospitalized. An official investigation into the crash has been initiated by the Flight Safety Agency (ANSV) and announced by Deputy Prosecutor Stefano Giovagnoni of Teramo. Additionally, it has been revealed that the surviving pilot is now considered a suspect in a potential manslaughter case. |

Re: Pilot Killed in Crash at Beach Before Frecce Tricolori Airshow
R.I.P. The event organizers (who apparently were amateurs themselves) claim that bystanders and sunbathers have never been exposed to risks during the accident, but as it can be clearly seen in one of the videos, this claim is highly questionable, also according to all the witnesses (but the organizers themselves). There are two ongoing investigations, the pilot who survived may face charges for involuntary manslaughter: there's to say that despite this show was supposed to entertain the people before 15° stormo show, they were two different events organized (at a short distance each other) by two different agencies (and one of the two is likely going to lose its license for good). P.S.: Ever wonder why it's virtually impossible to get some gory pics from Italy? Here's why, first responders are always told to create a human barrier between victim (in this case the pilot who survived) and cameras, smartphones, cellphones etcetera. Basically, the opposite of PTPG (Professional Thai Pointers Gangs). |

Re: Pilot Killed in Crash at Beach Before Frecce Tricolori Airshow
31-05-2015 Two planes that were performing before the Frecce Tricolori, show planned in Alba Adriatica at 17, clashed in the sky of Tortoreto plummeting into the sea. These are two-seater propeller aircraft. A pilot made the landing and was saved. The man - Luigi Wilmo Franceschetti, 43 years of Brescia - was transferred to the hospital in an ambulance with Teramo Civil Defence and was conscious. The other - Marco Ricci, 47 of Siena, leader of the team that was performing aerobatic aircraft - was spotted shortly after, died, sunk with his plane upside down. His body was recovered three hours later by divers of the fire department. |
