The damage appears to be consistent with mast bumping which is apparently a risk with Bell 206 and similar helicopters. This video explains the phenomenon and seems to exactly predict the damage that is seen in this NY heli crash. |

The force that hit the water, if they were not killed instantly, they would definitely have been knocked unconscious, then drowned, i don't even want to think about the parents trying to console their kids as it plummeted to the water

They DID report that divers quickly recovered some of the victims, and at least TWO of them were still alive at that time, got loaded into ambulances, and either died en-route to the nearest hospital, or just as soon as they arrived at the hospital. |
