In a tragic incident, Air India Express flight 812, originating from Dubai and carrying 160 passengers and six crew members, encountered a catastrophic accident in Mangalore, a southwestern Indian city. The aircraft overshot the challenging hilltop runway during its landing attempt and ultimately crashed into a densely forested gorge. The aftermath of the crash resulted in the aircraft breaking into multiple pieces and igniting in flames.

Remarkably, eight passengers managed to escape from the wreckage, initially surviving the crash. Unfortunately, one of the survivors, a 4-year-old girl, later succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical treatment. The recovery operation at the crash site has yielded the retrieval of 158 victims' bodies, as confirmed by a senior police official.

With all passengers now located and identified, search and rescue efforts have concluded, bringing closure to this devastating incident. Mangalore's Commissioner of Police, Seemanth Kumar Singh, reported that out of the 158 recovered bodies, 72 have been positively identified.

Here are the pics i got off some people. Mostly charred remains being carried away. Apparently the plane on landing hit the ILS antenna on the side of the runway, causing it to split into two and then proceeded to skid of the runway on the right and fall into a valley.

You thought 3rd world people had trouble driving motorbikes safely on this website, so give them planes to get around! However spectacular, a few hundred dead here and there in air crashes isn't going to help overpopulation in Asia.
I hope the passengers were mostly Middle Easterners, I kinda like Indians, like those two guys putting their latex gloves on with obvious glee at the clean up ahead.
Reminds me of of the Chinese pilots who put a Boeing 747 into a spin about 30 years ago and broke the sound barrier when it pulled out. No damage to the awesome Boeing made plane, but I bet that opened up their eyes! ;)
